- How to get my free web presence here?
In order to get your free web presence you have to follow two simply
steps:
- Register a site name and a password. (Register
new account) This name could contain only digits (0-9)
and letters (a-z, A-Z). But you will be notified if you are trying
other characters. Note that you cannot change your site name later
(but you can build another one).
- Login and change your page. There are many options you
can change here.
After these your web presence is up and running. All you have to do
is to let other people or clients know about your web page.
- Where is my web page?
You page will be located at: www.Toronto1.biz/<sitename>
If you are not sure about your web page location use lost
password page and get an email with your registered name, password and
site location. You can type this web address directly in Internet Explorer
or Netscape browsers.
- How to manage my account, lost password or
web address?
Basically there are no other requirements for managing your account.
You don't have to have programming or web development knowledge. With
every account, you can get safely the password and the location of your
page by email, if you lost or forget your password and/or web page address
(see Get lost password link). No one can access this information
and there are not made public by us.
- How will look my page?
Your page could look different because is fully customizable, but it
could looks like this (see this demo
account):
With every web page is possible to customize:
- Company name - on top of the page (here "Demo site").
- Slogan - under company name.
- Contact information - on left side: email, phone, address and a
link to open Yahoo! Maps. If you want more information you can add
them in the main part of the site (content).
- Content - in the middle. It could include images from other web
pages.
- Photo or logo on top-left corner (120 x 160 pixels)
- Background colors - for top, left and middle parts
- Text colors - for company name, slogan, contact information on left
side and for the content.
- Which are all admin options?
After login you will be in administration page. Here you can change
the content of your page and how it looks like. All the options above
(#4) have some fields to customize them. The colors are available coded
as hexadecimal values, but you can see the site and the results at any
moment directly from admin page (press See the site link on
top and open a new window). Also, there are a few extra options explained
here:
- Password - it could be changed here.
- Category - you can choose to make public your site and add to
a category on our web directory (just select one). Or you can choose
to not make it public (won't be added into web directory).
- Short description - will be visible only in web directory, if
you chose to add your web page to a category.
- Map link? - is checked will be added a link to Yahoo! Maps with
your address. You have to provide a correct address.
- Use logo or photo? - See #9 below.
After any change you made you have to save by pressing button "Save".
Also, on this page you can see starting date and the number of visits
to your page.
- What about web directory?
You can advertise the web page in our web directory for free. The only
thing to do is to select a category from administration page. If you
choose "Not listed" option, your pages won't be added to web
directory. This is a very convenient way to get some visitors, at no
cost.
- Other requirements?
All pages are made both for Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers.
The only requirement is to use at least Internet Explorer 5.5 for editing
online HTML content. Otherwise, you can add for all content plain text
or HTML code build with any HTML editor (FrontPage, Netscape Composer,
etc.)
- How to edit HTML content?
If you have Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher you can edit all content
online using HTML. This will looks like this:
As you can see is quite straight-forward. You can use fonts, colors,
create links and even add images already online (from any web site).
To add a new line uses the bottom link ("New line").
Also, there is a link that adds your company name into text, directly.
If you are using Netscape browser or and older Internet Explorer you
have to add all HTML codes manually (or using copy-paste from an HTML
editor).
- How to add a logo or photo?
For adding your logo or photo directly to this page you can use top
button "Upload image". A new window will open and
you can select the image from your computer. Then submit it. After this
step you have to check "Use logo or photo?" option.
(don't forget to save changes) At any later moment you can uncheck this
option to not display the image (the image is not deleted just is not
displayed). You can use JPG or GIF images (120 x 160 pixels).
